Real-time haze removal in monocular images using locally adaptive processing
What's it about?
Images with low visibility diminish the performance of computer vision systems. Particularly, haze in the environment affects the visibility in outdoor applications such as video surveillance, automated vehicle navigation, and remote sensing. The visibility restoration problem becomes challenging when only monocular images are available, and a real-time image processing is required.
Why is it important?
This research presents the design of an embedded system to remove the effects of haze in a sequence of monocular images. Because of its high computational efficiency, the proposed system is suitable for real-time applications.
